Boomers TV Is In Production
Boomers! Redefining Life After 50 is in heavy-duty production mode. The Boomers team moved into new offices last week in Newton, Mass., as we put the finishing touches on the first show. Nancy and I recorded our on-camera intros and outros for program number one at a classic car show in Danvers, Mass. The vintage cars from the 40’s and 50’s provided a great backdrop for us. People at the event were very friendly and quite interested in the idea of a Boomers TV series.
The first show takes a nostalgic look back at the 1950’s and explores how Boomers will reinvent aging in America. We meet three Boomers in transition, making dramatic career changes to do work they are passionate about. And we profile an Olympic athlete in her 50's who is preparing to compete in her 6th winter games.
The Boomers series consists of 13 half-hour magazine style programs covering such issues as health, finances, work, travel, housing, relationships and lifestyle. The series will be offered to public television stations thanks to the underwriting support of Fidelity Investments and the Del Webb division of Pulte Homes, Inc. A full description of the series is available through our web site.
The series is the brainchild of Bill Charette, a long time television director of photography who called together some of his old Boomer friends to kick around the idea for a television series that looks at the issues Boomers are experiencing in their lives. That was a year-and-a-half ago. And now we are making that dream come true. Like a lot of Boomers, we have things we want to do, and now is the time to take charge and make it happen. Nancy and I will be blogging about our experiences as the production moves forward. So, we invite you to keep checking in for the “inside story” of the making of Boomers! Redefining Life After 50.
