National Conference on Positive Aging
by Nancy Fernandez Mills
Are you a financial planner, life coach, community developer or career consultant? If so, you might want to attend the 2007 National Positive Aging Conference. It's subtitled "Beyond the Cutting Edge" and will bring together thought leaders from all over the country...and some international experts...to share the latest research and trends for those who want to serve Baby Boomers in their "encore" years.
Traditional senior centers, retirement communities and membership organizations like AARP are realizing that the new generation of Americans entering later midlife just don't fit the traditional mold. New models of living during the years we think of as "retirement" are being proposed or created every day. This will be a gathering of folks who really are on the "cutting edge" of the longevity revolution. I plan to attend - to learn, to network, to have fun and to contribute any way I can!
Topics will include creativity, life planning, intergenerational living, lifelong learning and fitness. The Conference takes place on the campus of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Save the dates: December 6-8. For more information, visit www.eckerd.edu/positiveaging. Maybe I'll see you there!
