Boomers Search for What's Next
by Nancy Mills
We recently received a comment from a 57 year old Boomer in Florida. She's retired and says she has "tried the volunteer thing" and has "accomplished what she set out to do" in her career. But she's bored and thinks she needs a challenge! This is not a surprise to those of us in our fifties who feel we have more skills and more energy and more time than ever before!
It's hard to give advice to someone without knowing more about their personal story. But we hear this kind of thing from so many of our viewers and site visitors that we really wanted to offer some help. That's why we started the Boomers! Transition Network. Coach Lin Schreiber has been piloting the program all summer and we'll be ready to offer more from her soon.
We're also excited about another coach we've met who offers advice for Boomers who want to start their own business, become a consultant or turn their passion into a money-making enterprise. His name is Jeff Williams and you can read more about him at www.bizstarters.com. Check back here to see more about Jeff later this month! If you've ever dreamed about becoming your own boss, Jeff's program will be a big help for you.

In searching for what's next, I hope Baby Boomers don't eliminate an Internet home based business of some kind.
The Fed Chairman, today, spoke of some Baby Boomer pain that all Boomers should already know about.
I posted about Bernanke's speech today in "Bernanke - Baby Boomer Strain Means Pain" - http://www.brokerblogger.com/brokerblogger/2006/10/bernanke_baby_b.html
I am very very new to all of this "Boomer" lifestyle and transitional changes but really NEED to find others that share a common thread.
My life for 38 years was totally focused on husband, family, career, and then care giver for the last 12 years. My husband had cancer and lost one of his legs. After all his struggles - he died last Feb 2006. I have been faced with no life insurance, raising our 17 year old son, losing a beautiful home in Idaho, and now starting life all over again without my sweetheart.
It sounds bleak but I am really very optimistic because my husband taught me "new day, new hope". Today I cannot regret what happened yesterday but look for the best from Today. Today I found your website and I want to explore all the possibilities.
Thank you for doing this. I will be watching.
