Boomer Health and Happiness
A couple of Boomer related news items out in the last day or so provide a warning about our health, and a reaffirmation of the Boomer desire to stay young and in touch with the changing culture.
A new government study shows Boomers are more likely to have high blood pressure or to be obese than the generation before them at the same age. Note to self: get to the gym more often and cut back on those cheeseburgers.
The second report is a survey on Boomer attitudes about their favorite activities and the kinds of purchases they make. Two standouts: many Boomers want to change careers and they look forward to continuing their active sex lives. There is just no holding back that Woodstock generation.
On the Boomers TV front, production on most of the shows in our 13-part public television series is complete. We are now working flat-out on the web site that will accompany the programs. The show premieres in about a half dozen markets on New Year's Day, the day the oldest Boomers turn 60. Several dozen markets will begin running the series later in January, with others to follow.
Parade magazine's recent cover story on Boomers says the list of those turning 60 next year include: President Bush and wife Laura, Donald Trump (whose lovely wife will have a baby next year), Tommy Lee Jones, Cher, Bill Clinton, Pat Sajak, Susan Sarandon, Steven Spielberg, Candace Bergen, Diane Keaton, Connie Chung, Dolly Parton, Oliver Stone (yes, this is starting to sound like a conspiracy), Barry Gibb, and Jimmy Buffett. Margaritas all around!

Thrilled to have found your blog. I was not aware of your TV series. My business is focused specifically on the 50 plus market (www.genplususa.com) so I'm always looking for interesting, relevant information and insights into the Boomer demographic. I'll post information on your upcoming series on my blog. There are still relatively few Boomers in the blogworld...so it is always nice to find a kindred spirit! Best of luck with your series! Will you be posting additional information on the show?
Best of success.

Congratulations on the show. My firm's work with financial services, active adult retirement communities and healthcare relating to Boomers in Retirement needs greater understanding of the issues. I am in the midst of co-authoring a book, Banking on Boomers, so all of this helps create greater awareness. My contacts with John Carver have been special -- he is a dedicated professional!
